Treatments and Remedies for Allergies: Symptoms & Types
Definition of Allergy
It comes to define the term allergy as “any biological state organic reactivity and altered sensitivity to a substance, called allergens.” Also defined as “biological condition caused by an antigen-antibody specific type, which becomes apparent only after the second contact with the allergen.”
So our body against any external stimulus (physical, chemical or microbial) produces a reaction that is usually normal as our immune system is always in a constant state of alert.
However, sometimes the second contact with a certain substance (allergen) our body and sensitized by the first contact does not respond in a normal fashion but differently. This second way to react differently is what we call “allergy.”
Then the question arises: Why compared to the same substance the body reacts in this second time differently? The answer is that the first contact with the allergen has been “sensitized” to our body so that in this second contact responds differently.
With this in mind we continue to define the term “allergy” as “any modification of the sensitivity and reactivity of the organism to a substance given allergizing (allergen).”
Anergy
To better understand the functioning of our body we have to understand how to react to stimuli. Our bodies may be immunized against viruses, substances, etc. through the action of the immune system. We can say that thanks to the acquired immunity is a state of abolition of the normal reactivity to microbial external stimulus. If our body is armed or immunized against the aggressor does not react in any way, it simply passes Olympian because he fears his enemy.
However, we call “anergy” lack of responsiveness to normal. In medicine, this lack of reactivity characteristic of a good immune system is considered “positive anergy.” But there is also “negative anergy, ie the lack of response to microbial agents because the body can be in a position of weakness and impotence against infection.
To summarize what we have said so far we have:
Positive anergy: The lack of reactivity all thanks to the perfect functioning of the immune system.
Hiperergia: Reactivating higher than normal. Hyperreactivity.
Nomergia: normal reactivity, non-allergic.
Hipoergia: Reactivity lower than normal. Hyporeactivity
Negative anergy: Total lack of positive reactivity by the agency for disability or weakness.
With this in mind, the allergy would correspond to the state of Hiperergia.
Types of allergies and symptoms
According to the different types of allergens, ie substances that act by forming antigen and specific antibodies, the body produces an allergic state, there are different types of allergy.
Allergy to pollen from flowers and other plant products. This group includes hay fever or vasomotor rhinitis, and many cases of bronchial asthma. Similar to these two forms of allergies are allergic sensitization states associated with other plant substances such as seeds and cereal flours (wheat, oats, corn, etc..), Leaves, roots, etc. The symptoms of allergic rhinitis are congestion, itching, runny nose, watery eyes
Drug allergy. This can be congenital (family status) or acquired. This includes the majority of pathological reactions to medications such as aspirin, antibiotics, sulfonamides, anticonvulsants, contrast media for X-ray Some of the symptoms that can cause this type of allergy are: nervous agitation, malaise, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, hypotension, itching, eczema-like skin rashes.
Food allergy. A special form of allergy that is caused in some people who are specifically sensitized to certain types of food. Among these are: shellfish, fish, meat, eggs, milk, fruits, vegetables, and to a certain type of wine. In these cases the awareness arises after consuming certain food many times. Have also been reports that the first intake has an allergic reaction.
Allergies to animals epidermal substances. A considerable number of cases of bronchial asthma and other allergic manifestations are due to a state of hypersensitivity to products of animal skin such as hair, dandruff horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, etc.
Allergies or allergy infectious bacterial products. It’s the kind of allergy that develops in certain stages of infection, and is recognized as allergens or microbes full body chemical fractions of microbial (bacillary toxins or poisons). An example of this is the tuberculous allergy, ie the tubercle bacillus and its toxins.
Allergies to other substances. This could include, dust, mites, metals such as nickel, certain insect stings and hundreds of chemicals every day are responsible for numerous allergic reactions.
Mechanism of allergy in the body
Given that the allergen is only one antigen, ie a substance capable of producing the antibody, and once the organism has been sensitized to the substance allergizing, when he again comes into contact with the substance the allergic phenomenon would be a reaction between antigen and antibody. This reaction is called specific because the antibodies are capable of reacting with the substance that caused to be injected at the first opportunity and not a different one.
